By all accounts, Microsoft is engaging in all-out warfare, trying to grab Google market share and head off the search and Internet marketing giant wherever it can. The latest entry? Electronic health records.

Google Health – comprehensive electronic health records that consumers can access on the Web anywhere at any time – launched in May, and received a glowing review for its work with the Cleveland Clinic in this week’s TIME Magazine (www.time.com).

In the meantime, Microsoft has announced a pilot project with Kaiser Permanente for Microsoft’s HealthVault. Same concept, different platform. Kaiser already has its own member site, but the HMO says that they hope HealthVault will enable members to integrate data from other sources, such as home medical devices or blood pressure checks.
