Blog advertising, or ‘blogvertising’ as some people refer to it, is quickly picking up as one of the main ways for companies to advertise themselves and their products and or services. As the name suggests, it simply involves using blogs to advertise your products or your services or to promote your organization. It is an effective advertising method since blogs are high traffic sites and therefore having your advertisement on good blogs can greatly increase the amount of targeted traffic you get to your site. In choosing to carry out this type of advertising, there are some options that you have; you could use your own blog, use someone else’s blog or use both.

In order to carry out an effective blog advertising campaign you need to first look for niche blogs that are already well established. A good way to do this is to use search engines such as Google or Technorati.com and browse through some top ranking niche blogs to see which are best suited for you to use. Once you identify the blogs you can contact their owners and see if they can post your advertisements on their blogs. Most bloggers will do this for a fee so you will have to negotiate on an appropriate amount.

Blog advertising can take place in one of two main ways. First, you can use your niche keywords to write a small advertisement, which will contain a link to your site and will then be posted in the blogs that you choose to use. Alternatively, you could create business or product and service reviews and have them posted in blogs. These reviews will contain a link back to your site that interested readers can use to get access to the product or service. A common approach used by many is to get sponsored reviews posted on blogs. This is where you pay a blogger some amount of money to write a review and then post it on their blog. This way, you effectively achieve blog advertising.

Some of the ways in which your business can benefit from using blog advertising are:

* You get a more targeted approach to advertising, which provides you with better quality clicks on your advertisement. You therefore spend on advertising that counts unlike spending on paid advertising where your links are simply thrown all over the Internet and are sometimes clicked on by people who are just playing around.

* Since people visiting blogs are there for a particular reason, using blog advertising helps to increase the amount of targeted traffic that you get on your site.

* More targeted traffic to your site consequently translates to a better conversion rate and a higher ROI for your business.
