There are a lot of terms that are used in web advertising. There is CPM, PPC, CPC, and others. So what do all of them mean? It’s good to understand the different terms so that when you are looking for advertising, you know what you are getting into.
CPM
This abbreviation stands for cost per thousand. Why does it mean cost per thousand when the last letter is M? It’s because the Roman numeral for thousand is M. Okay. Now that we know what it stands for, what does it mean in terms of money?
Well, CPM normally stands for impressions. That means, if the CPM of the site is $20, you will get one thousand impressions for $20. It’s important to remember that it doesn’t guarantee that one thousand different people are going to see the advertisement. It just guarantees that it’s going to be viewed one thousand times.
Click through rate
One of the most important concepts in web advertising is the click through rate. The effectiveness of the advertisement is measured though this as a percentage, which is the amount of people who click through the advertisement in order to go to the page.
CPC
CPC stands for cost per click, and it’s one of the most popular types of web advertising. The reason for this is because the advertiser only pays for people who actually visit the website. If you are someone who purchases advertisements on a cost per click basis, you want to work together with the owner of the site to improve the rates of your click through.
Click away rate
This is basically the same thing as a click through rate, but it’s from the other side. The click away rate refers to the percentage of people who are leaving a website through a link that they are given.
When a person is familiar with the terms that are used in web advertising, they know where their money is going when they are paying for advertising. It’s a good idea to know how the system works so that there isn’t any confusion when looking at results.

People know how important it is to get the word out about a press release and how important it is to get the press releases distributed. But there is some discussion about how important it is to use press release services in order to get your press release out and about.
Why is it such a good idea to use press release services to distribute your press releases? Here are some of the reasons why people choose to use the services instead of doing the legwork themselves.
1. They are busy
One reason that people choose to enlist the help of a press release service is that they are simply too busy to do the legwork themselves. After all, if they have a new business, they are concentrating on that and have a lot on their plate. When they use a service, that’s one less thing that they have to worry about.
2. They have had good experiences with the service before
If they have used a press release service in the past, they may decide that they want to use them again and give them repeat business. A lot of people who go to press release services are repeat customers.
3. They have connections
People know that press release services often have connections and resources that they don’t have. They are going to think of things that they may not have thought of, and newspapers and magazines may be more willing to deal with a service than they would be willing to deal with an individual.
4. They were referred by someone
They know of someone who has used a press release service and that person gave them a good recommendation. A lot of press release services get their business from referrals by satisfied customers.
5. Press release services know the business
One thing about press release services is that they know the business and they know what is going to work for certain situations. They are going to be able to give you the best suggestions and let people know about your business in the best way possible.
There are a lot of good reasons that you should use a press release service to distribute your press release. You will find that they are efficient and that they are going to do what needs to be done to let people know about you and your business.

If you are thinking of hiring a press release service to help you distribute your press release, there are some questions that you can ask them so that you can find the one that is right for you.
1. How much do your services cost?
Knowing what you are going to be charged is good to know up front. You should get the price quote in writing and read the fine print before you sign anything.
2. What services does the cost include?
Another thing that is important is what you can expect for your money. What types of services are they going to provide for the price you pay?
3. How will you distribute my press release?
Find out exactly how the company intends to distribute your press release. Will they be calling newspapers? Will they be sending it out to magazines? Will they send it by fax, email, registered letter?
4. Do you have any references?
It’s always a good idea to ask for references. This not only gives you an opportunity to speak with people that they have serviced before but also to gauge their reaction to you asking for references. They should not mind you asking for references. If they seem nervous, it’s a bad sign. Even if they give you references, do a search online and find out if there are others who have posted reviews.
5. How long have you been in business?
This will give you an idea of how much experience they have. It doesn’t guarantee the quality of their work, but it will show that they are not new to the business.
6. How long does the process take?
You want to know, approximately, how long they are going to be working for you and how long it will take to send out your press release.
You may think of other questions when you talk to someone who works for a press release service, but these are the questions that people find the most helpful. The answers to these questions will let you know what you can expect along each step of the way and what type of job they will do for you.
Distributing a press release is an important job and you want to know that it’s going to be done right and thoroughly.

Internet advertising is only good if the ads you put out are search engine friendly and keyword optimized. To gain more popularity and boost business, you have to look at Internet advertising as an art. Internet advertising may not be the talent you were born with, but you can certainly learn how to create a great ad.
There are several steps anyone can take to improve the performance of their ads and their Internet advertising campaigns. Here are just a few tips you can follow to enhance your results.
* First, focus on the benefits you will deliver to your target audience.
* Make sure you know who your target audience is and define this clearly so you know who to write your ads to. You must create ads for the people you serve not for the general public or for you.
* Use a tracking system to see how well your Internet advertising methods are working. You can easily split test two similar ads to see which is doing better. The more you do this the more capable you will be of seeing how well your ads do and what elements of your Internet advertising campaign you can do with and without.
* Find out how people are finding your site. Use this information to create even better Internet advertising strategies. If people are using Google AdWords and not taking advantage of the links you provide in the weekly e-newsletters, then stop creating content for the newsletters temporarily and focus on the AdWords instead. You can always go back to the newsletter work later, or use that material in another way (like in a blog).
* Make sure you regularly review your page rank to find out whether your efforts are paying ff.
* Keep Internet advertising simple. Too many people think more is better. More is not better. The simpler your ads are the better. So take care not to go overboard with the latest technologies because they can do more harm than good.

Online classified ads are gaining in popularity not only for job searches, but also for businesses to market themselves. Online classified ads in many instances are a free form of online marketing, giving business owners the opportunity to test marketing methods and to drive traffic to their websites with little to no financial commitment. Deciding where to place your online classified ads and then learning how to maximize your postings is important to improve the marketing campaigns opportunity for success.
Decide Where to Place your Classified Ads
Classified ads can be used as a direct marketing campaign both online and offline. When leveraging classified ads as a marketing campaign, you will need to consider either or both options.
If you start with online classified ads, search for both free and paid opportunities. There are several quality, high traffic classified ad sites to leverage in this type of campaign. You can use your search engine to search “free classified ads”, pulling up a whole host of choices. Consider using www.kijiji.com, www.craigslist.org or www.city-classifieds.com to start. Considering that these classified sites are free, post as many ad versions as possible to increase your opportunity for website traffic and for sales.
There are also a variety of paid classified opportunities on the Internet. When you are considering paid classified ads for direct marketing, it is important to carefully consider the target audience of the website or the online material that is getting distributed. Who are the readers of the classified ads? How much traffic does the site or company generate? What is the current feedback from previous customers regarding the site or the company?
Post and Re-Post Your Classified Ads
Once you have chosen your target sites, you will need to post an effective classified ad. One of the tips to an effective online classified ad campaign is that you will need to post regularly. Most readers will only view the ads that pop up at the top of the search. Considering that free classified ads that are posted online will drop down on the list as they age, a suggested tip is that you post every day, or every other day to stimulate the most activity possible. Over time, you will be able to determine which sites and which classified ads are the most effective for you. This information will allow you to make necessary adjustments as needed.
Free online classified sites also offer inexpensive upgrade options for their classified postings that may be an option to include for even more traffic and response.
You can also leverage traditional print media for classified ads. Similar to paid classified ads online, you will need to carefully consider the price, target audience, total readers that the publication expects and any information that they can provide you with regards to response rates and success. Ask the representative of the publication what their suggestions are with regards to ad creation and apply as many as possible that are applicable to your business and your products.

When you’re trying to get the word out about your website or new online business, you can greatly benefit from press release distribution sites. Press releases are now available online and it’s easier, faster and more directly targeted to the right people than traditional press releases of other media venues.
When you want to use an online press release to get the word out about your business, new website or company event, you need to know which sites to distribute to. While there are many press release distribution sites on the Web, it can be well worth the expense to choose one that is paid. This is because it is general knowledge in the industry that paid PR sites hire people to sift through the many different press releases and sort out the bad ones. This means that your release will be held in higher esteem as a result of being on a paid PR site.
News professionals will most often go to these paid sites first to pick up the best releases and the best news to report. You have better chances of being noticed on a grander scale when you pay for the paid PR sites. There is a higher chance of getting picked up by high scale news sources and that more people online will see your news release.
This isn’t to say that you can’t post on free press release distribution sites as well. There are many respectable free PR sites on the web as well. You may want to research them and their requirements and submit your press releases or news releases to these as well for the added exposure.
Here are some of the most well known, dependable press release distribution sites on the Internet:
PR.com
BetaNews.com
OpenPR.com
AdvancedPR.com
There are benefits to each of these sites and you may decide that you want to use one or more, depending on your situation and what it is your news release is about.
Prweb.com is considered to be one of the best press release web sites on the Internet. They will submit your press release to places such as Yahoo News, Google News, MSN News and more. Your press release will be reviewed and must receive a certain number score before it is sent out to these top news outlets. If you don’t rank high enough for this, it will still be published and distributed.
PRNewswire.com is another popular choice that does well in the search engines. Submission here can get your release noticed in Google news quite often, too. PR.com also receives a lot of traffic and can be very beneficial to you.
If you need help writing or distributing your press releases, there are services available to you. You can find qualified, professional services to help you get your press releases and news releases out on the Web. Be sure you do your homework when choosing a company to help you with your press release distribution. Wasting time with a company who isn’t qualified can hold you back.

There was a time when direct mail was the way to market just about everything, particularly for nonprofits that were soliciting contributions. It’s still out there. Just today, I got a flyer from a local department store advertising their current sale. And guess what? Their web address was featured in bold colors and letters on the first page. So direct mail marketing is certainly not dead, but is it a good way for you to increase web traffic?
It’s difficult to say right off, but it’s certainly worth considering when you are putting together a marketing plan. First of all, whatever you mail must be first-rate and compelling. Second, you need to make good choices about your mailing list. Third, offer something that will draw the customers in. Some things to think about: What, exactly, are you going to mail? A letter, flyer, coupon, business reply envelope? How about a postcard? What size? Who will do the creative work, and what do you want the thrust to be? Envelope design is important because the piece does nothing for you if the envelope is not opened. Devote whatever creative sources necessary to make the envelope effective. Take a look at what others are doing. What about some direct-mail pieces or packages that come into your own mailbox? Which ones do you open? And why?
Postage costs. Bulk rates that give you a break can be worked out, but you need to talk to your post office about the best way for you to go. Also, what will various formats cost, and which one do you think will give you the most bang for the buck? Mail campaigns can be very costly. You want to calculate all these matters carefully. You can learn a lot by going to the USPS website, although I’ve found that it’s worth your time to go to your own post office and get the advice of your local postmaster.
I’ve used larger format postcards effectively. Just remember that the design must be compelling! You can’t get a lot of information on a postcard, but you can bring your website to the reader’s attention; and that may be all you’ll need if your offer is attractive enough. Try to make an offer that will tempt them to purchase online. These large-format post cards are inexpensive to mail and usually inexpensive to print since they’re half of a standard-size sheet. Be sure to explore bulk rates for these mailers and get the most mileage possible out of the dollars you’re spending to increase web traffic.

Web promotion is a method of getting people to learn who you are and what you have to offer to them. It is not always the easiest thing to accomplish on your own, especially if you have not spent the time developing these skills. Yet, promoting your website, blog or online business is the only way you will survive in the cutting edge, driven world of Internet business. It is highly advisable to work with an Internet marketing service to get the help that you need, but beyond this, there are other things to take into consideration as well.
When you compare web promotion to local advertising methods, you can see a sizable difference, but also some similarities. For example, if you own a retail store locally, then you would like to do some advertising when you first opened the doors to let others know that your business is there. This may include anything from advertising through commercials to print ads and even just putting up big signs. The same is true for web promotion. Online, you may want to consider starting out with search engine optimization, web directory submission and press releases. These let the Internet world know that you are there and ready to start helping them.
Next, you may want to share a sale with your local audience. You may want to get the message out through various methods locally such as sending flyers to homes and even putting out a bit of signage. In the Internet marketing sector, to advertise a sale, you also have a number of options to consider. Here, you may want to consider sending email marketing messages (within legal requirements, of course) as well as article marketing methods. This can help your customers to know that you are offering them something new and interesting. It is a good way to get the word out that you are available, too.
There are other ways to do this online, too. Web promotion is simply a means of getting your message out and letting others find you. Locally, you may publish your company’s information in a phone book, but online, you have to let others know by using tools like search engine marketing, link building and other similar methods. Each of these methods works with your goals to reach the audience that you want them to.
It is also true that in order for web promotion to be successful, you need to see a turnaround in increased traffic to your website. The traffic coming in needs to be targeted, or the type of traffic that is most likely to respond to your messages at your website. The only way to make this happen is to insure that you have the proper web promotion strategies in play and that you are working towards your goal each day. It can be hard to do all of this work yourself, which is why many small businesses use Internet marketing professionals to help them.

Most people have heard of search engine optimization (SEO) and most have a basic understanding of how it works. However, if you want to increase traffic while boosting sales, it is important to understand the exact way in which this tool works. Known as the primary online marketing strategy, search engine optimization enables spiders or crawlers to scour your site for information. This makes it an effective tool for web site promotion.
These spiders/crawlers will visit your website and look at the content to see if it can be indexed for the sake of searches. If your site is created with solid content that has keywords and phrases, then the chances of your site being indexed and given a high rank is much better. Because of the power SEO has with web site promotion, it is considered not only the best way of increasing Internet visibility but also a critical means of doing so.
For search engine optimization to work, two primary things happen, one on page and one off page. With the on page stage, your website’s look and feel would depend largely on the overall design, along with the way in which it was built and the format for the copy. The off page stage has to do with continuous search engine development that goes along with creating links, paid submissions, article directory submissions, forums, and more - anything that can get word out that your site is open for business. Obviously, both of these stages work together in helping increase the overall web site promotion.
When looking at the on page dynamics, these would include:
* Managing links
* Scripting meta tags
* Validated Content
* Keyword Density
* Keyword Mining
* Valid and Concise HTML Markup
Off page elements include:
* Digital Signatures
* Link Building (Inbound)
* Distribution of Press Releases
* Link Marketing
* Paid and Free Directory Submission
* Article Submission
Web site promotion does not have to be complicated. By following some simple rules and choosing the right methods to help increase traffic, you would be amazed at the difference in the growth of your site. Owning and operating an online business is exciting and adventurous but obviously, the goal is to use web site promotion to make it the best it can be. Too often, people overlook the possibilities to increase traffic, settling for whatever they can get. However, with so many options, there is no reason not to reach the ultimate success.
Of all options for website promotion, search engine optimization is by far the best. Then, within this opportunity are others just waiting to be explored. To make your website successful, it is important to use a variety of tools. With this, you will find an increase in traffic, which is your goal. An increase in traffic equals more people looking at the products and/or services you sell, leading to actual profit.

Web site marketing is one of the most important methods for managing a business online. It allows for a business to get customers to the website who are most likely to buy from the company. Whether purchasing products, signing up for services or other activities, the only way to get results from a website is to let more people know that the website is there. Through effective web site marketing methods, this can be accomplished without a lot of risk.
Various tools are available to help a business owner to do well online. For example, web site marketing requires that you spend a good deal of time using several methods, not just one. Here are some of the various types of marketing your business may want to consider using to get full Internet exposure and maximum results.
1. The use of email marketing is quite important. Communicate with your clients through email. Emails must be designed to get them to click on the links to take them to the website. They need go out according to legal requirements, including anti spam laws.
2. Targeted traffic is key to building a website. Targeted traffic is traffic that comes to your website that has somehow been qualified. For example, the traffic could be coming in response to an ad or because the individual has already shown some interest in the products you have. Targeted traffic is much more likely to make a purchase than any other form of traffic. You want the largest amount of targeted visitors as possible.
3. Press releases are a tool to help any business to get the word out. Press releases work in mostly the same way as they would in the offline world. They simply communicate news to the media. This news gets around, and ultimately you can count on seeing an increase in traffic from these tools. Many of the businesses online that do not use them fail to reach their full potential.
As you consider what types of web site marketing your business needs, plan to spend some time learning the ins and outs of this field. A business owner does not necessarily need to have a budget as large as other companies, but they do need to know the proper types of web site marketing for their website and the tools for making it happen. There can be a rather steep learning curve but it can bear fruit.
A web site without any type of marketing is one that is not getting enough traffic, enough sales and enough return customers. Proper marketing can help to turn even a small business into a successful, financially strong company. Those that do not have successful web marketing may find themselves without the value that they could have had. The good news is that it is very possible to have this within a business today when you either educate yourself on how to market or hire a company to do it for you.
