    Redirected Traffic for Websites

    There are some situations that call for redirected traffic for websites. If you find yourself in one of these situations, do you know what you should do and how you can handle the situation? One of the most common scenarios where you may need redirected traffic is if you switch your website domain. If you have to change your domain, when people go to visit your old site, they are going to get that dreaded error message that says your site no longer exists.

    How will they know that you have moved or created a new site? What about the people who bookmarked your site? The best way that you can preserve your page is to set up a redirect from the old domain to the new domain so when visitors come to your own domain URL, they will be redirected to the new site. Without this, you will lose all of the marketing efforts you put into your original site and domain.

If you have to move your website for one reason or another and you need to switch your domain, you need all the links for your own website to be redirected so that they are not lost.     * If the structure of the new site is different than the old, you will need to “map” each old URL to its new location. You will also need to map if you want to preserve the old links from the former structure of your site.

    Setting up a redirect can take some time and work but it is well worth it to not lose all that potential traffic because you moved domains. If you are unable to do it yourself, it is worth the expense to hire an expert to do it for you.
