Soft Drink Delivery: Four Nostalgic Sodas You Won't Find Just Anywhere
When Pepsi introduced Pepsi Throwback last year, the company was just picking up on a soda trend that has only grown larger. People love old time sodas made the way they used to make them. A few companies have arisen that cater to the yearning to return to the past, at least for the time it takes to down an icy Moxie or Dad's Root Beer. They carry many nostalgic sodas, including these four popular old time sodas.
Bubble Up Lemon Lime Soda
Dad's Root Bear Company holds licenses for several nostalgic sodas, including Bubble Up Lemon Lime Soda, best known for its marketing slogan, "kiss of lemon, kiss of lime". The light, refreshing citrus taste made Bubble Up one of the most popular carbonated sodas of the early 1900s. Before it developed Sprite, Coca Cola distributed Bubble Up as part of its line, and David Caruso drank Bubble Up in an early 1980s ad, long before he ever heard of Horatio Caine.
In a world of citrus carbonated drinks dominated by lemon and lime flavors, Squirt has the distinction of being made with grapefruit. Originally developed in 1938, Squirt hit its popularity stride in the 1950s and 1960s. Its formula has less sugar and less citrus than most other old time sodas, making it less popular with the kids and much more popular as a drink mixer. Today, Squirt is owned by the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group. Don't confuse original Squirt with the new variations, Squirt Ruby Red and Squirt Citrus Power.
Simpson Spring Coffee Soda
Simpson Spring Beverage Company opened in Easton, MA in 1878 and, unlike many of the other nostalgic sodas available today, is still owned and bottled by the same company. Each batch of soda is mixed by hand in big vats located at the 145-year-old plant following the original recipes for such old time sodas as Simpson Spring White Birch Beer and Simpson Spring Coffee Soda. The company doesn't distribute nationally, so finding it at a place that delivers it is quite a treat.
These old time sodas are a throwback to an older, gentler time when people believed in goodness and service. Call a nostalgic soda delivery company today, then pop one open and instantly be taken back to the good ole' days.
