This economy is making it rough for everyone - with blue collar and white collar jobs. Job security seems a thing of the past as more and more people are finding themselves out of work, with seemingly no prospects of finding something new. Even well-qualified professionals find themselves unable to get as much as an interview even after sending out hundreds of applications and covering all the bases. The situation is becoming desperate for many as savings and benefits dwindle and hope runs out. This is why more and more people are turning away from the traditional job market and start doing their own thing. Their goal is not becoming a millionaire (though that would always be nice), but to rid themselves of dependence on fickle employers and get in charge of their own destiny. That feeling of empowerment, of being in control of your life, is incomparable.
Problem is, most people think it's impossible to make it on your own, set up a business, create your own work, and earn money without depending on anyone else. I found that the majority of those who are unhappy and unfulfilled in their work, or who have lost their jobs and are now desperately looking for something else simply think they cannot make it on their own. So they send out resumes, getting more and more frustrated, and eventually despair, never even trying to help themselves, start their own business, perhaps even make it rich on their own.
I am not dissing those who simply cannot see how they could possibly succeed on their own. It can look daunting. When most think of starting a business, they think startup costs, loans, business permits, grueling long hours, and so on and so on. But it doesn't have to be that way. Almost anyone can start a lucrative business that eventually generates wealth and abundance. Having your own website, or even suite of websites, for example, costs only very little. And it can be the start to an independent business that may lead to personal fulfillment and the creation of prosperity far exceeding what most will find in traditional employment.
So how does one go about it? Is it just a matter of getting one of those get-rich-quick books or call the number given on a television commercial that promises riches with hardly any work? No, that would simply mean you're helping someone else get rich. However, and this is very important, while "make-money-fast!" classifieds are usually a rip-off, there are guides and business resources out there that absolutely help. Even some of the books that promise to show you how to get rich usually contain some great insights and good advice. And you know what? Even one single, simple idea or suggestion can lead to a business or a better life. The likes of Bob Proctor (the life success guy) or Tom Hua (an internet marketing guru) will not guarantee that you make it big, but they, and many others like them, sure have a bunch of great ideas.
The secret really is to take advantage of what's out there and benefit from other people's experience. Pretty much no matter what you are interested in (or some things you never even thought of), there are guides and resources out there, and they are almost always helpful and contain some good advice. And that is often all it needs to get you going with a new idea, find the confidence to give a business idea a try, without any big investment or red tape. Internet marketing, for example, is still in its infancy, as are any numerous other areas and opportunities. If you have a computer and an Internet connection, you're already tuned into a new global economy with absolutely unparalleled opportunity, and you don't need anyone else to make it work for you.
