As a professional art photographer, my friend Meg photographs nature and uses the latest technology to transform the photos into strange and beautiful images. Meg always has the newest and best equipment, and she gives me her outdated stuff. That's how I happened to get a high-quality professional grade photo printer. This fantastic printer uses so much ink it was costing me a fortune, until I learned about ink and toner cartridge refills.
Refill kits and refill bottles of ink and laser toner cost a fraction of what new cartridges cost. Now that I buy refills I recycle and reuse the expensive printer cartridges. Not only do I save money, but I also help reduce pollution and waste because I don't throw my cartridges in the trash.
Another thing I like about refilling my cartridges instead of buying new ones is that I never have to run out of ink again. Because the price is so low, I buy my ink in bulk, so I always have a good supply on hand.
Online companies formulate bottled and bulk inkjet ink to match most currently available printers. The inks come in wide color ranges for color photos. Each printer uses specially formulated ink; you can't use the same ink to refill different types of cartridges.
Comprehensive refill kits designed to match the shapes and designs of specific cartridges contain the inks, instructions, and tools you need. You can even watch a refill video to see how easy the process is. Now that I've gotten the hang of it, it takes me less than five minutes to refill my cartridge, and I don't spill a drop of ink!
If you do decide to save money by refilling your printer cartridge (and why wouldn't you?), you'll want to remember to refill before the cartridge is completely empty. If you let the ink run out, you run the risk of damaging the nozzles in the print head. Similarly, you never want to let the print head be exposed to air. If you remove a cartridge from a printer, cover it to prevent it from drying out. To get the longest life from your cartridge, keep the ink flowing by topping it off and never let the print head dry out.
I mentioned toner refills earlier. Instead of sending your laser printer copier or fax machine cartridge to the landfill, you can refill it with toner powder. A starter refill kit includes all the tools you'll need to refill your toner cartridges without any fuss or mess. Until I found out about these refill kits, I didn't realize that I could reuse the toner cartridges; I thought I had to throw them out and buy new ones. Refilling extends the useful life of toner cartridges, resulting in huge savings.
Even though duplicating equipment costs significant money up front, the biggest copying and printing expense is the ongoing cost for replacement cartridges. The lifetime cost of the cartridges is typically many times the cost of the copier or printer. Some printers sell at a low price but use ink uneconomically. That's why refilling is such a money-saver (maybe 80% savings or more).
I was about to trade Meg's expensive printer in for a less ink-guzzling model. But now that I'm a refiller, I use all the ink I need to get great quality prints.
