MEXICO CITY, MEXICO - July 23, 2007 - The tragedy of death occurs in
every family and affects every individual at some point or another.
Unfortunately, many things are often left unsaid to loved ones and
friends. That's why a new Web company called Footsteps.tv has created
a unique way for anyone to leave personal messages behind for their
loved ones that will be delivered only upon their death, whether
through letters, video, documents, photos, etc.
Though many people do prepare a Last Will and Testament to share their
final wishes and requirements, they often wish they could say or do
more at the personal level to comfort their loved ones. Footsteps.tv
is providing a free service that enables any individual to do just
that - to leave a trail behind to their loved ones with messages of
comfort, inspiration, or instruction.
The company's founders, Fernando and Alejandro Gomez Pimienta, feel
the service will fill a wide gap in bereavement care and services.
Gomez Pimienta states, "In a Last Will and Testament, there are only
so many things a person can write, and their wishes and statements are
usually read aloud to a group of family members, not to individuals.
Footsteps.tv goes a step further to enable a person to leave personal
messages to each individual family member or friend, and with total
privacy in mind. They can even program messages to be delivered at
specific dates after the account is activated."
Individuals who wish to use the service may do so easily online. The
free account comes with 100 mb of storage space and will be active for
99 years.
"We tried very hard to design a simple, safe, powerful, and yet
flexible system. After creating an account, the user may name
Beneficiaries and create messages for them. These messages can
include any kind of computer files," says Gomez Pimienta.
The account is activated by what´s called "Virtual Angels." They
close the loop and make the system work. Virtual Angels are two or
three of the user's closest friends, co-workers, or family members
that would know right away if something happens to that person. They
get an encrypted code and instructions on how to use it.
The primary reason for an account to be activated is death, but that's
not the only reason. In truth, the system allows an individual to
prepare for anything. It's up to the user and the Virtual Angels to
decide what constitutes as grounds for account activation. It could
be an accident, coma, sickness, missing, etc.
Footsteps.tv is intended for people of any age, environment, and
lifestyle. "We usually don't like to think about something happening
to us, but it's life, and things do and will happen. Our system allows
anyone to be ready in safe and new ways, from keeping important
information safe to helping loved ones with closure in the time when
they will need it the most," says Gomez Pimienta.
The system is also very easy and user-friendly. There is a very
detailed help section and a Frequently Asked Questions document. To
protect personal files and information, Footsteps.tv has taken several
steps to ensure security and privacy for each individual user.
"To give every user complete security for their personal messages and
information, we've encrypted the entire Web site using SSL technology.
Individual files and messages are also encrypted as soon as they are
uploaded, and no one but the user has access to them. Trust and
privacy are two very important issues to us. That's why our company
and the Footsteps.tv Web site have undergone intense analysis to
obtain the Network Solutions SAFESITE Certificate and seal," says
Gomez Pimienta.
With the Internet becoming so pertinent in society today, services
like these will help lighten the burden of preparing for death with
easy-to-use systems that can be utilized from one's own home computer.
