SAN FRANCISCO, CA - September 24, 2005 - The San Francisco Student
Philharmonic announced its sixth season of public concerts today with an
artist roster including world-renowned violinist Chee-Yun, San
Francisco Symphony Assistant Principal Violist Don Ehrlich, conductor
Florin Parvulescu, and the Philharmonic's music director, Andrei
Gorbatenko.
Their five-year-long pilot project of giving career-bound young adult
musicians the opportunity to rehearse and perform with an instrumental
faculty of San Francisco Symphony members has been well received. The
results of this education program are showcased every season in their
public orchestral concerts and in their community presentations
demonstrating to young people how dedication and strong work ethic
create success. "The chemistry and enthusiasm on stage is contagious,"
says Gorbatenko. "This upcoming season represents a move from infancy
to a permanent institution of education and artistic excellence."
Andrei Gorbatenko and violist Don Ehrlich will open the season on
November 4, 2005, with Beethoven's First Symphony and viola works by
Hindemith and Telemann. The season will come to a close on May 28,
2006 at the Herbst Theatre with violin virtuoso Chee-Yun and conductor
Florin Parvulescu in a performance of Mozart's timeless Violin
Concerto no.4 and Schubert's Fifth Symphony.
