LOS ANGELES, CA - November 10, 2005 - When Tom Cruise heard the story
of Niki Yan, a Chinese girl who wrote "My Love For You, Tom Cruise -
A Desperate Chinese Girl's Confession," a book about how he inspired
her to come to America from a small village in China, he was so moved
and he invited her to the set of Mission Impossible III.
"Thank you so much for all these years of inspiration and positive
information," said Yan as she was almost in tears when she met Cruise.
The Chinese girl met her hero and role model after the movie
"Top Gun" inspired her eight years ago.
E! Entertainment Television also reported the story and interviewed
Niki Yan in person. Yan gave a copy of the book to Tom Cruise on the
set. And she is still looking for the right publisher and has no doubt
that it will be a bestseller. Yan says, "Meeting Cruise was like
meeting an old friend. He was so easy to talk to. He was funny and
laidback, generous and kind. I liked him immediately." Cruise also
asked about her family in China and her childhood in the village. "He
really cares about people. He made me feel like home," Yan added.
Cruise said they would like to give Niki a tour sometime at the
Celebrity Center of Scientology Church in Hollywood. "Scientology must
have done something really good for Tom, I am eager to find out." Yan
doesn't hide her enthusiasm about Tom's controversial religion.
The book, "My Love For You, Tom Cruise - A Desperate Chinese Girl's
Confession", is the perfect expression of love, dreams, and hope. It
focuses on how Tom Cruise, a super star with a compassionate heart
became the role model of a young talented Chinese girl who came to Los
Angeles to pursue her own American dream. It's funny, insightful, and
sincere; touching, original and inspirational. The author reveals her
personal story, wrote with passion and unique vision. It's about how
one can achieve their own ultimate dreams. "This book will change your
life; whether you are 14 or 40, if you have a dream, you have read
this book - even if you don't like Tom Cruise," adds Yan.
About the Author
Niki Yan grew up in a poor village of China, which had no water and
electricity. She saw "Top Gun" by chance at the age of 11. She started
to pursue her own American dream since.
"Tom Cruise absolutely forged who I am today," continues Yan, "Not
just because of his movies, but also his positive attitude in real
life. He is inspiration." The author of six books, Yan published her
first book when she was 13. She received special admission to China's
top college, Peking University, due to her creative achievement. She
also gave Cruise a screenplay she just finished. She expects him to
star in it.
Yan's ultimate dream is to work in the film industry as a writer and
actress. "This is just a start," Yan told Cruise. "It's always a start,"
responded Cruise. The phoenix from the village of China finally realized
her American dream.
