CHICAGO, IL - May 20, 2008 - Author Christopher A. Helwink sets a new
trend in children's books with the release of his book series "The
Adventures of Kid Combat." The series brings young readers one
thrilling adventure after another as a group of friends combat an evil
man in their town named Phillip Arthur Jones. But unlike many modern
children's adventure books, this series engulfs children in a world of
mystery and adventure without violence or bad language.

The first book in the series titled "A Secret Lost" is being published
by thirty-one productions in association with Wheatmark. A second book
in the series titled "The Heist of Spring Road Toys" is in the final
stages of editing and will be released at a later date.

The series targets boys and girls with a variety of characters
including Kid Combat, a boy who leads a band of friends to fight evil
in his town, and a girl named Samantha, the fiery girl of the group.
Young readers can easily relate to the characters and imagine being a
part of each adventure as the series unfolds.

The main hero of the series, Kid Combat, is not a superhero. He's just
an ordinary boy who loves games, sports, and hanging out with friends.
The media in the town labels him "Kid Combat" because he and his
friends perform their heroics in secret.

The series' author, Christopher A. Helwink, based the stories on
memories from his childhood. He thought about writing the series for
years, but one day with pen in hand, he just started writing. He
began writing the first volume in April 2004, and it was published in
October 2007.

"The ideas for KC have been locked in my brain for years - probably
ever since I was KC´s age," states Helwink.

Though still new to online book shelves, the Kid Combat series is
already getting noticed across the United States. The series will be
featured at the upcoming 2008 Chicago Tribune Printer´s Row Book Fair
on June 7-8. This is the largest book fair in the Midwest.

"The Adventures of Kid Combat" has been dubbed "the next great
adventure series," and even teachers are raving over the valuable
moral lessons portrayed in the first volume. Independent teachers have
already developed lesson plans and classroom activities based on the
series, which can be reviewed at the Kid Combat website.

The first volume "A Secret Lost" can be purchased online at any major
book store including Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, BooksAMillion, and
Wheatmark. Helwink is currently seeking a larger publishing company
and an agent to help promote the series.
