BAY CITY, MI - August 19, 2009 - After studying and working with
children since 1966 and observing how they play and with what toys
they play most often, PlayfulWoodenToys.com decided to design a
website that would feature some of these most often played with toys.
Searching for toys that were durable, educational, representing
different occupational skills, and were not gender specific became the
company goal. Hence, two years ago PlayfulWoodenToys.com was born.
PlayfulWoodenToys.com's mission was to bring the manufacturers of
these resilient, USA made, imaginative toys together with the parents,
grandparents, and teachers who were looking for long lasting,
instructive play things for children. Toys and games that would
stimulate imaginative play were our choice, and toys that had only
one purpose were intentionally avoided.
Knowing that children learn through play, the intent was to make play
as meaningful and safe as possible. Believing that children need to
learn by doing, PlayfulWoodenToys.com has striven to find quality toys
that will help them do just that. Toy trucks, trains, blocks, tool
boxes, doll beds, farm toys, farm animals, and boats are all toys that
simulate an occupation. As children practice these professions they
come to understand and internalize many concepts about different
careers and the type of jobs they would like to practice in their
future.
