LONDON, ENGLAND - September 18, 2008 - The HOLOTOPIA Academy, founded
by the Italian scientist and physician Alberto del Genio, the
Brazilian architect and musician Emanuel Dimas de Melo Pimenta
(www.emanuelpimenta.net) and the Austrian cultural promoter and
politician Maria Graff is a new project oriented to art, science and
philosophy and was born this summer in one of the most amazing
locations on the planet.
The Academy is located at Punta Campanella, near Positano, in the
Amalfi Coast, Italy, which is the place described by Homer in his
Odyssey, when Ulysses meets the sirens. The site where the new
Academy was born has two large houses, various rooms, and a
magnificent tower dated around 1620, which will be used as data center
and a place for contemporary art installations and exhibitions.
The aim of the new Academy is to receive residents, to promote
courses, international meetings, concerts, art exhibitions and so on.
The International Council of the HOLOTOPIA Academy includes prominent
names such as Roy Ascott from the United Kingdom, Marcia Grostein,
Phill Niblock and Dan Schwartz from the United States, Alex
Adriaansens from the Netherlands, Katia de Radigues from Belgium,
Artur Matuk, Fabio Duarte, Dorival Rossi from Brazil and Nina
Zaretskaya from Russia, to name a few.
HOLOTOPIA Academy is looking for partnerships all over the world for
projects in art, music, science or philosophy and if possible with an
open, trans-disciplinary and trans-cultural character. The new
institution is also looking for sponsors, individual or not, for its
