CANOGA PARK, CA - June 9, 2009 - The economic struggle of the nation's
major car dealers forced Chrysler Corporation to tell up to 1,000 of
its 3,189 U.S. dealers today it is terminating their franchise
agreements.

Locally, Canoga Park Chrysler-Jeep dealer David Ellis found out at
6:00am this morning that he "made the cut" and will remain open. His
Glendale Dodge dealership will also remain open. "They did not close
a lot of Southern California dealers, in comparison to the 800 dealers
on their list," Ellis told Valley News Group. Chrysler reportedly
only closed 12 dealerships in California. Ellis related that part of
the reason may be that there are no Chrysler-Jeep dealers in the
valley since Van Nuys closed their doors, and the corporate
entity is worried about servicing existing and future customers.

"50% of the dealers sell 90% of the cars. Chrysler is closing very
small dealers in rural areas that don't sell that many cars," said
Ellis. Chrysler also terminated agreements with dealerships that had
other brands associated with them. "They want just Chrysler cars in
Chrysler dealerships," he added. At least until Fiat buys the assets
of the new Chrysler organization formed out of bankruptcy. Ellis
estimates it will be a year to a year and a half until Fiat product
is in his showroom.

Ellis also credits his longevity in the industry. In Glendale, his
family has been serving the community for over 40 years, and Ellis
himself has been in Canoga Park for 30 years. "They did take into
account how long and how well you service your customers." David
Ellis Chrysler Jeep has also been a large part of the west valley
community in his 30 year tenure. He is former president of the Canoga
Park Chamber of Commerce, a member of Rotary, involved in youth
sports, Little League and more. He added, "We've provided a lot of
tax dollars to the city, not to mention sponsoring many events over
the years, and donating thousands of dollars to charities, churches,
schools and Rotary. We're thrilled to remain part of the west valley
community, which will only continue to grow and prosper as the economy
recovers."

David Ellis Chrysler Jeep in the San Fernando Valley is one of
California's sales leaders. David Ellis Chrysler Jeep will not be
undersold and has a reputation for great low price specials on all
their new and pre-owned vehicles.
